3:10 To Yuma
In Arizona in the late 1800s, infamous outlaw Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) plagues the Southern Railroad. When Wade is captured, Civil War veteran Dan Evans (Christian Bale) - struggling to survive on his drought-plagued ranch and desperate for money - volunteers need to escort him to the "3:10 to Yuma", a train that will take the killer to trial. During the journey the two men learn grudging mutual respect, but with Wade's cold-blooded gang in hot pursuit, the mission soon becomes a violent dangerous journey where honour and loyalty clash with far-reaching consequences. This superb modern western comes from the director of the Oscar winning Walk The Line.
Bend Of The River
Man-with-a-past James Stewart guides a band of pioneers from Missouri over the Oregon Trail to a new life in the Columbia River Basin in this western adventure directed by Anthony Mann.
Broken Trail
Academy Award-winner Robert Duvall and Academy Award nominee Thomas Haden Church star in this moving, top-rated Western drama. Set in 1897, Print Ritter (Duvall) and his estranged nephew Tom Harte (Hayden Church) become the reluctant guardians of five abused and abandoned Chinese girls. Ritter and HarteÆs attempts to care for the girls are complicated by their responsibility to deliver a herd of horses while avoiding a group of bitter rivals, intent on kidnapping the girls for their own purposes.
Open Range
Four cowboys, trying to escape their pasts, are driving cattle and living off the land on the open range - free grazing outside of the law. When ruthless, evil rancher Denton Baxtor (Michael Gambon) tries to run them out of town, the men's peaceful existence takes a violent turn and ends in the grittiest, most explosive gunfight on film as two men battle for honour, justice and a way of life that's quickly disappearing.
Rooster Cogburn
Two of the most popular stars in screen history are brought together for the first time in the follow-up to 'True Grit'. The film returns John Wayne to the role of the rapscallion, eye-patched, whisky-guzzling Deputy Marshall that won him an Academy Award. Katharine Hepburn is prim Eula Goodnight, a Bible-thumping missionary who teams up with the gun-fighter to avenge the death of her father. While in pursuit of the outlaws, a warm rapport develops between the rough-and-tumble lawman and the flinty Reverend's daughter.
