In winter 1962, young cockney photographer David Bailey is given an important assignment by British Vogue to do a fashion shoot in New York. He sticks his neck out, and insists on using the then-unknown model Jean Shrimpton. Who happens to be his girlfriend. In a freezing winter week in Manhattan, they behave very badly, fall in love, drive their fashion editor Lady Clare Rendlesham to tears, make startling photographs, and help invent the sixties.
WE’LL TAKE MANHATTAN is the story of that wild week, of their love affair, and of how two young people with no such intention happened to change the world of fashion forever.
