How do I find music?

How do I search for Albums, Tracks and Artists?

Just type the Artist, Album or Track name that you are interested in to the 'Search' box situated towards the top right of every page then click the 'Search' button.

You can search all of the MP3s that are available or filter your search by 'MP3 Tracks' or 'MP3 Albums'.

Can I browse for content?

You can browse all the 'New Releases & Best Sellers', 'Top Offers', Pre-orders, Deals, Charts and much more on the MP3 home page. Just hover over 'Music' in the main navigation and select 'MP3' from the drop down menu.

Alternatively if you click on the 'MP3' store button in the top right of the 'Music' home page then there is a list of 'Charts', 'Genres' and 'Collections' to browse through.

Can I preview Tracks before I buy?

Most tracks that are available to download on the Sainsbury's Entertainment site can be previewed before you buy. Click on the 'Play' button to the left of the track that you wish to hear. If you wish to listen to a sample of every track on the album then you can with one click – just click the 'Preview All Tracks' button to the top right of the track list.

Can I pre-order music to download?

Sainsbury’s Entertainment offers certain titles as pre-orders so that you can be one of the first to download a track or album as soon as it is released.

Purchasing a pre-order is just the same as buying any other music download file apart from when you complete the checkout process you will not receive a file for download but a record of your pre-order will be made in your ‘My Account’ section under ‘Outstanding orders’.

Two hours before the pre-order becomes available for purchase you will be sent an email reminder. As soon as the pre-order becomes available you can visit ‘Order History’ in your ‘My Account’ section and click the download button to download the track or album via your Download Manager.

How do I know if the album or tracks that I am buying contain explicit lyrics?

Any album containing tracks with strong language, reference to acts of violence, sex or drug abuse will have the term 'Explicit Lyrics' in the product's title, sub-title or on the products details page. The 'Explicit Lyric' information is provided by the content owners and their warning will always be displayed by Sainsbury's Entertainment if provided.

In most cases the content owners will also add a Parental Advisory 'sticker' to the album artwork.

How do I buy music to download?

How do I add an album or track to my basket?

Once you have found the Album(s) or Track(s) that you wish to purchase click the 'Buy' or 'Pre-order' button that is relevant to the product that you would like to purchase to add it to your basket.

How do I Checkout the contents of my basket?

Once you have everything that you wish to buy, click the 'Checkout' button and follow the simple checkout process. This will include registering with the Sainsbury's Entertainment site the first time that your purchase. On subsequent visits you will just be asked to log in.

Can I use eVouchers on the Sainsbury’s Entertainment website?

At present you are only able to redeem eVouchers issued by the Sainsbury’s Entertainment website, vouchers from Sainsbury's Stores or www.sainsburys.co.uk are not accepted.

How do I download Music?

How do I install the Sainsbury's MP3 Download Manager?

The Sainsbury's MP3 Download Manager helps you to download and manage digital files.

It can even add your purchases to iTunes so that you next time you 'sync' your iPod your files will be right there.

During the checkout process you will be taken through the installation of the Sainsbury's Download Manager. This should only take a few moments.

Installing the Sainsbury's MP3 Download Manager

The Sainsbury's Download Manager is a light application that is simple and easy to install.

In order to run it on your PC or Mac you will need 'Adobe Flash Player'. If you do a lot of internet browsing then you will probably already have it but if not you can install it FREE from Adobe.

System requirements

  • Microsoft® Windows® XP Home, Professional, or Tablet PC Edition with Service Pack 3; Windows Server® 2003; Windows Server® 2008; Windows Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise (including 64-bit editions) with Service Pack 2; or Windows 7
  • 512MB of RAM (1GB recommended)


Mac OS
  • Intel Core™ Duo or faster processor
  • Mac OS X v10.6 or v10.7
  • 512MB of RAM (1GB recommended)


Step 1
  • We verify that you have Adobe Flash Player installed and if not we give you the link to Adobe where you can install it for free. Once installed just refresh the page and go to Step 2 below


Step 2
  • If you have Adobe Flash Player you will be presented with the 'Install now' option for the Sainsbury's Download Manager. Just click the 'Install Now' link.
  • When prompted to 'Open' or 'Save' in the pop-up click 'Open'
  • When asked if you are sure that you want to install the application click 'Yes'
  • You will be presented with some Installation preferences, unless you are an advanced user we recommend that you leave these as the default settings and click 'Continue'
  • If you have anti-virus software installed you may be asked once more if you are sure that you want to install the application – click 'Yes'. The Download Manager is verified by VeriSign and is completely safe.


Step 3
  • Once installed the Download Manager will launch and you will be asked where you wish to store your downloads. You can chose to store your files anywhere on your PC or Mac but once again unless you are an advanced user we recommend that you just accept the default settings and click 'Apply Settings'
  • If you already have iTunes installed then the Sainsbury's MP3 Download Manager with automatically save the music that you download to your 'iTunes Media' file. This insures that you will be able to access and play your files via iTunes and 'sync' to your iPod or iPhone.


Step 4
  • You should now see your files ready for download in the Download Manager just click the 'Resume all Downloads' button to start the download if it does not start automatically.
  • The progress of each track can be viewed in the Status column. Once 'Downloading' has reached 100% a message will pop-up from your status bar and your file is ready to play.
  • The Download Manager will progressively download three files concurrently.

What controls does the Download Manager have?

Download and History Tabs

Until you click on the ‘History’ tab or log out of the Download Manager all completed downloads remain in the ‘Downloads’ tab.

You will be able to view a complete history of everything that you have downloaded under the 'History' Tab.

Controls

  • Pause downloads – this pauses all downloads and can be used if you require bandwidth to view other web content or processing power to complete another task. Once clicked the button will toggle to 'Resume all downloads' once you are ready to commence downloading just click the button.
  • Hide all downloads – This groups all related tracks together so that only the parent product is displayed. This can be useful if you are downloading many products at the same time. Once clicked this button will toggle to 'Show all downloads'. If the button is clicked in this state then all the tracks that you are downloading will be displayed again.
  • Open download folder – Clicking this button will open the folder where your downloads are being saved.

What happens if my computer crashes or I lose internet connection whilst I am downloading files?

Do not worry, should your PC or Mac crash, lose power or internet connection whilst you are downloading a file - the Download Manager will pick up for where it left off before the download process was interrupted.

Can I download to my iPad, iPod or phone?

Currently you are unable to download directly to a mobile device, however you can download to your PC or Mac and then upload to your device using iTunes, Zune or your preferred device manager.

How do I play music that I have downloaded?

Are the music downloads from Sainsbury's Entertainment compatible with most players and devices?

All Sainsbury's entertainment tracks are standard MP3 format and compatible with the vast majority of media players, such as Windows Media Player, iTunes, Zune and Real Player and most devices including iPods, Android, Windows and Blackberry mobile phones.

Can I play my music downloads in my preferred media player?

To play the tracks, navigate to them in the normal way using your preferred media player.

If you do not have iTunes installed then you will be able to play tracks through the Download Manager by clicking the play button to the right of each track.

How do I manage the music that I have downloaded?

Where are my files?

If you have iTunes installed all music downloads will be saved into your 'iTunes Media' folder and you will be able to access them via iTunes.

If you do not have iTunes installed then your music downloads will be saved into the default 'Sainsburys_Entertainment_MP3' folder in your user directory, unless you changed the default save location in your Download Manager settings.

You can locate your music downloads by launching the Sainsbury's Download Manager, Logging in, using your Sainsbury's Entertainment User Name and Password and clicking the 'Show Downloads Folder' button.

Can I change the Default Save location of files?

To change the folder into which your downloads are saved just launch the Sainsbury's Download Manager, Log in using your Sainsbury's Entertainment User Name and Password and click the 'Settings' link located in the top right of the Download Manager. Please note that you will not be able to edit your settings whilst downloading a file.

The folder in which your files are saved is listed under 'Current downloads folder' click the 'Change folder' button and browse to and select the folder in which you would like your files to be saved.

If you select the option to 'Add to iTunes automatically' then all files will be downloaded to your iTunes Media folder.

Can I automatically add my files to iTunes?

If you have iTunes 9 or later installed before you install the Sainsbury's MP3 Download Manager then your downloads will automatically be added to your 'iTunes Media' folder so that they can be accessed by iTunes.

If you installed iTunes after you downloaded the Sainsbury's MP3 Download Manager then you will need to edit your settings:

  • Go to 'Settings'
  • Check the 'Add to iTunes automatically' selector
  • Click the 'Apply Settings' button
The next time you download a MP3 from Sainsbury's Entertainment it will be automatically added to your iTunes.

Are my music downloads DRM Free?

All music on Sainsbury's Entertainment is DRM Free (Digital Rights Management). This means that your use of the files that you download will not be restricted. You may copy, transfer or burn files to a CD for your personal use. However, all downloads provided by Sainsbury's Entertainment are copyrighted which means that the distribution and sharing of files is prohibited. We 'Watermark' all our files to protect against illegal copying and distribution.
